Lot #1

Participation in The Wassaic Project Summer Festival
The winning bidder's work will be included in the curation of The Wassaic Project Summer Festival, August 13th - 15th, 2010. The winner will receive entry into this highly competitive, juried exhibition, which attracted over 3,000 visitors in 2009. Randy Kennedy of The New York Times described The Wassaic Project as: "...one of the strangest new homes for contemporary art in the Northeast, a place that feels like a Lower East Side gallery transplanted into a treehouse…". Artwork must be submitted by July 15th and is subject to final approval by the curators of The Wassaic Project. Artist must work in conjunction with The Wassaic Project to coordinate installation.

Lot #2

Public Art Opportunity
The winning bidder will receive the opportunity to design and produce a temporary public art project on a vacant Billboard on New York State Route 22 in Wassaic, NY. Over 100,000 cars pass the Billboard each month. The winner's artwork will be on display for two months. Artist is responsible for all installation and material costs associated with the opportinity.  Final design is subject to approval. This opportunity must be redeemed by February 2012.

Lot #3

The Wassaic Project Residency
The winning bidder will receive a one week live/work residency in Wassaic, NY. The residency will include an adaptable raw studio space, roughly 200 square feet, in The Wassaic Project's historic livestock barn. Artist will have 24 hour access to their studio and accommodations which include a private bedroom, shared living room / study, dining room, kitchen, and bath. Artist will also have access to workshop facilities, which include a modest wood shop, a large format inkjet print room, and a silkscreen studio. Artist is responsible for his or her own food while in Wassaic. Residency is limited to the first or second week of May, 2010. Along with inclusion in The Wassaic Project Residency Program, the winning bidder will also have their work included in The Wassaic Project Summer Festival, 2010 (see Lot 1).

Lot #4

New York Solo Show at WORK gallery
The winning bidder will receive a Solo Show at WORK gallery on the Red Hook waterfront in Brooklyn, NY. WORK features 350sq. ft. of gallery space, and specializes in the exhibition of emerging artists working across all mediums. The gallery’s principle interests are "artists who rebel with a sense of duty against the corruption of the world by striking down charlatanism and aligning themselves with the renegade power of beauty as a wellspring from which to draw forth life."  The show will run for a week and includes an opening reception.  Artist is responsible for all installation and material costs associated with the show. This opportunity must be redeemed by February 2011.

The lots in this Artist Opportunity Auction are real and can be redeemed by the buyer.  The concept and performance are fantasy and are not representative of how The Wassaic Project operates or curates.
 
 

The Wassaic Project also boasts a number of artist alumns participating in The BRUCENNIAL 2010 and the upcoming Volta, The Armory, and Scope art fairs.
